"Sickle cell  does not belong in the  closet!"

One of the greatest Ugandan ever lived was Philly Bongoley Lutaya who in his own words gave Aids " face" taking on his philosophy, Ruth Nankanja a sickle cell patient,realizing the fact that people would rather sweep sickle cell under the carpet and realizing the stigma and discrimination faced by people with sickle cell in Uganda, and yet armed with scientific fact as to how sickle cell is caused did commit herself and other patients plus some haelth workers to change this state of affairs.

  Sickle Cell Association of Uganda Is the only grass root organisation representing the interests of patients in Uganda. We strive to change the perception that the majority of population have in Uganda about the disease. That is worthless people in society,stigma and discrimination.    Through counseling and education we strive to improve the lives of families.                 

Mission Statement

Impove awareness about sickle cell disease at all levels of the Ugandan society. Improving the well being of peolple by increasing accecssbility to diagonistic equipment.
